Corner Alliance joined the Teamesteem Network by purchasing copies of the book on behalf of ten students participating in the Teamesteem program.

Created by West Potomac High School teacher and Alexandria, Va. native Daryl Mackey, Teamesteem is a word meant to describe teamwork in its ideal form—a group of people working collectively to achieve a vision while advancing their individual skills. Corner Alliance Co-sponsors Annual Teardrops to Rainbows Gala

November 11, 2011

Washington, D.C. - Corner Alliance was thrilled to co-sponsor the annual Teardrops to Rainbows (T2R) dinner and silent auction at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner. T2R, a Fairfax, VA based non-profit, lends support and financial assistance to local families of children battling cancer. This year was T2R’s ninth gala and marked the 10th anniversary of the passing of the charity’s inspiration: Rachel Crossett, a courageous six-year old who passed away in 2001 after a three-year battle with neuroblastoma.

Rachel’s mother, siblings and caretakers were on hand to share the story of Rachel’s life and how her courage and unceasing concern for others inspired Lois Lyons, T2R’s executive director, to create the charity in her memory. In the decade since Rachel’s passing, T2R has directly supported over 3,000 families and impacted countless more through financial assistance and capital donations at area hospitals. This year’s gala saw roughly 500 people turn out to support the event, helping raise over $100,000.
